The PTA hosts Japan Days

The language classes are grouped according to capability levels to focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking

Japanese A: Language & Literature is also offered for those whose mother tongue is Japanese.

FIS teaches the IB curricula (PYP, MYP, and IB) at a low student-to-teacher ratio

Elementary (PYP)
The Early Years class is taught by an international teacher with the support of a full-time teaching assistant. Inquiry (science and social studies), mathematics, and language (according to capability levels) are taught in the homerooms, while specialist subjects (PE, music, and art) are taught by specialist teachers each week

Middle (MYP)
The 8 IB MYP subject areas are English Language and Literature/Language Acquisition, Japanese Language Acquisition, Mathematics, Sciences, Physical Health Education, Design, the Arts (music, visual art, and drama), and Individuals & Societies. Language education is offered according to the acquisition level of each student, and students in English acquisition classes are transferred to language and literature courses when deemed ready

High (IB)
*Alternative diploma programs based on IB classes without assessments are also available

iPads and Chromebooks are used in elementary classrooms. Secondary students are required to bring their own devices, with which they are provided access to G Suite resources

The IB curricula offers opportunities for presentations. Grade 10 students complete Personal Projects

The school uses BridgeU program to offer career guidance

Students will work with their teachers, the Careers Counsellor, and the IB Coordinator to select the most suitable diploma pathway for them.
